Terms of service

Last updated: 14 August 2026

Welcome to The Unconventional Plant House. These Terms & Conditions apply to purchases made through our online shop.

By placing an order through our website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

1. About us

The Unconventional Plant House is an independent UK houseplant retailer selling houseplants, pots, accessories, growing supplies and related products.

Business name: The Unconventional Plant House

Business address:

Unit 4, 10 Market Street, Kettering, Northamptonshire, NN16 0AH

Email: the.unconventional.house.plant@gmail.com

For the purposes of these Terms & Conditions, "we", "us" and "our" means The Unconventional Plant House.

"Customer", "you" and "your" means the person purchasing products from us.

2. Products

We make every effort to ensure that product descriptions, photographs and prices on our website are accurate.

However, houseplants are living products and naturally vary from plant to plant. The plant you receive may differ slightly from the photograph shown on the website in size, shape, leaf markings, colour or growth habit.

Where a listing is for a specific individual plant, the photographs will represent the plant you are purchasing as accurately as reasonably possible.

Where a listing is for a plant variety or species rather than an individual specimen, the photograph is intended as an example of the plant and not a guarantee of the exact appearance of the plant supplied.

3. Availability

All plants and products are subject to availability.

Because plants are living products, circumstances may occasionally arise where a plant becomes unsuitable for sale between being listed and being dispatched.

If this happens, we will contact you where reasonably possible and offer an appropriate alternative, a replacement or a refund.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order where a product is unavailable, incorrectly priced or cannot reasonably be supplied.

If we cancel an order, you will receive a full refund for any amount you have paid for the cancelled product.

4. Prices and payment

All prices displayed on our website are in pounds sterling (£).

The price payable is the price displayed at the time your order is placed, together with any applicable delivery charges.

Payment must be made when placing your order unless otherwise stated.

We accept the payment methods displayed at checkout.

5. Placing an order

When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase the products in your basket.

You will receive an order confirmation acknowledging that we have received your order.

A contract between you and us is formed when we accept your order and confirm that the products are being prepared for dispatch.

If we are unable to accept your order, we will contact you and refund any payment you have already made.

6. Delivery

We currently deliver within the UK only, subject to the delivery areas and plant-health restrictions stated on our website.

Delivery charges and estimated delivery times will be displayed before you complete your purchase.

We aim to dispatch orders within the timeframe stated on the product page or at checkout.

Live plants may be held temporarily during periods of unsuitable weather or other circumstances where dispatching them could reasonably put their health at risk.

Where we delay dispatch for this reason, we will aim to contact you where appropriate.

Further information is provided in our Delivery Policy.

7. Live plants

Houseplants are living organisms and can respond to changes in temperature, light, humidity and their surroundings.

Minor changes during transportation or after arrival, including slight yellowing, leaf movement, minor cosmetic damage or the loss of an older leaf, can occur.

We take reasonable care when selecting, preparing and packaging plants for dispatch.

Nothing in this section limits your statutory consumer rights.

Further information is provided in our Live Plant Policy.

8. Returns and cancellations

If you purchase goods online, you may have a legal right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the goods, subject to applicable exceptions.

Where a customer validly cancels an order under their statutory cancellation rights, we will provide the refund required by law.

Customers may also have additional rights where goods are faulty, damaged, not as described or otherwise do not meet their legal requirements.

Please see our Returns & Refunds Policy for details of how to request a return, cancellation or refund.

9. Damaged deliveries

If your plant or another product arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible and provide photographs of the packaging and product.

This helps us investigate what happened and, where appropriate, resolve the issue with you.

Please do not dispose of the damaged product or packaging until we have advised you that it is no longer required.

Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights.

10. Customer responsibility

Once your order has been delivered, you are responsible for providing suitable care for your plant.

We provide care information to help you look after your plants, but environmental conditions within your home can vary considerably.

We cannot guarantee that a plant will thrive in a particular environment because factors such as light, temperature, watering, humidity and individual growing conditions are outside our control.

11. Plant health

Where required by law, plants sold through our online shop will be supplied in accordance with applicable UK plant-health requirements, including plant passport requirements.

We may be unable to supply certain plants to particular locations where plant-health legislation restricts their movement.

If an order cannot legally be supplied to your delivery address, we will contact you and provide an appropriate refund where applicable.

12. Website information

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that information on our website is accurate and up to date.

Occasionally, errors may occur, including typographical errors, incorrect availability or pricing information.

Where an obvious error affects an order, we will contact you before proceeding where reasonably possible.

13. Our liability

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

In particular, these Terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer or our legal responsibilities concerning faulty, misdescribed or otherwise non-conforming goods.

14. Complaints

If you have a problem with an order, please contact us at:

Email: the.unconventional.plant.house@gmail.com

We will aim to resolve complaints fairly and as quickly as reasonably possible.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The version that applies to your purchase will be the version in force when you place your order.

16. Governing law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws applicable in the United Kingdom, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.

Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected by these Terms & Conditions.
