Shipping policy

Last updated: 14 August 2026
We love plants. We also like them arriving alive, healthy and looking considerably better than something that's just spent a couple of days being thrown around in a courier depot.
For that reason, we take particular care when packing and dispatching live plants.

1. Where we deliver

We currently offer delivery within the UK excluding Northern Ireland
We do not currently offer international delivery.

Certain plants and plant products are subject to plant-health restrictions. If we are unable to legally send a particular plant to your address, we will contact you and arrange an appropriate refund or alternative where applicable.

2. Preparing your order

Before dispatch, we inspect plants for obvious signs of pests, disease or damage.
Plants are carefully prepared and packaged to minimise movement and damage during transportation.
As plants are living products, we may occasionally delay dispatch where weather or other conditions create an unreasonable risk to the health of the plant.
This may include periods of extreme heat, extreme cold, frost or other conditions that could seriously affect a plant during transportation.
If we need to delay your order, we will contact you where reasonably possible.

3. Dispatch times

We currently only dispatch on Mondays, this aims to ensure your plant will not be stored in a Royal Mail facility over the weekend.
Orders are normally dispatched within 5 working days of receiving payment.
Estimated delivery times are provided at checkout.
These are estimates rather than guaranteed delivery times unless a specific guaranteed delivery service has been purchased.

4. Courier delays

Once an order has been handed to the courier, delays can occasionally occur.
We will do our best to assist with courier-related issues and track your parcel where tracking is available.
However, a courier delay does not remove your statutory consumer rights.
If a parcel is significantly delayed, lost or otherwise fails to arrive as agreed, please contact us and we will work with you to resolve the situation.

5. Someone needs to receive your plant

Where possible, please ensure that someone is available to receive a delivery containing live plants.
If you provide permission for a courier to leave your parcel in a particular location, you acknowledge that this may expose the plant to unsuitable conditions such as extreme temperatures, rain, frost or direct sunlight.
We strongly recommend using a secure, sheltered location if a parcel must be left.

6. Checking your delivery

Please check your parcel as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
Some movement, minor leaf damage or other cosmetic changes can occur during transportation.
If your plant appears seriously damaged, unhealthy or dead on arrival, please contact us as soon as possible with photographs.
Please photograph:
The outside of the packaging
Any visible damage to the packaging
The plant and its pot
Any specific damage to leaves, stems or roots
The delivery label, where relevant
This information helps us investigate the problem with the courier and determine the best solution.

7. Extreme weather

Plants can be particularly vulnerable to extreme temperatures.
During periods of unusually hot or cold weather, we may temporarily pause dispatch of certain plants.
If this happens after you have placed an order, we will contact you where reasonably possible and discuss the available options.

8. Delivery charges

Delivery charges will be displayed during checkout before payment is taken.
Any available delivery options and their costs will be shown at the time of purchase.

9. Plant passports

Where required by plant-health legislation, plants sold through our online shop will be supplied with the appropriate plant passport or other required documentation.
We may be unable to send certain plants to particular locations where plant-health legislation restricts their movement.
The Unconventional Plant House is registered with the Plant Passport authority, number 154907

10. Problems with delivery

If your order has not arrived within the expected delivery period, please contact us at:
Email: the.unconventional.plant.house@gmail.com
Please provide your order number and delivery details so that we can investigate the issue.
Nothing in this Delivery Policy affects your statutory consumer rights.
